BUKIT BINTANG

In a city where locals think nothing of hailing a taxi for a two-block trip, you'll mark yourself out as a visitor by walking along Jalan Bukit Bintang. It's worth it, though, to feel the excitement of one of KL's busiest stretches, complete with skyscrapers, glitzy shopping malls, international restaurants and bars and late-night foot-massage joints. Extending from Jl. Raja Chulan, Jln. Imbi and Jln. Pudu over to Jln. Sultan Ismail up to Jln. Ampang, Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle, is comprised of two major areas; Bukit Bintang and Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC). Bukit Bintang, whilst apart of the Golden Triangle, is really more of a neighborhood than anything else. Bukit Bintang has always been popular and fashionable however in the last few years has undergone gentrification and come away as both historical and chic at the same time. Whether you fancy haute cuisine or hawker stalls, brand name fashion or quirky local boutiques it’s all available in Bukit Bintang. And being inside the ‘Golden Triangle area, most offices are just a few minutes away making it ideal for business and holiday travelers alike. Hotels in Bukit Bintang tend to be smaller local owned and managed properties. Some are older upscale hotels that have been nicely renovated while others are new, chic boutique hotels catering to the image conscious traveler.

The famous place in Bukit Bintang

Transformed over the past five years from a slightly dodgy urban street to a shopping haven, Bintang Walk links the largest malls and hotels along Jalan Bukit Bintang with pavement cafes and late-night bars.

On weekends, a human stream of thousands of locals, as well as tourists, ambles along the walk and through the shopping centres. It's the place to be for the New Year's countdown and annual Merdeka (Independence) Day celebrations. Jalan Bukit Bintang offers endless choices when it comes to after-dark entertainment.

Many restaurants here are equipped with a bar that comes into full swing at night, and many hotels lining the street also have their own trendy watering holes and nightclubs. Karaoke lounges can be found in abundance here, many of which also offer private rooms, entertaining patrons well into the night no matter which day of the week it is.

Part of Piccolo Hotel, right next to Ristorante L’Opera, Clique Lounge Bar provides a highly stylish chill-out space with its plush crimson interior and cosy ambience, where patrons can enjoy live telecasts of their favourite sports games or indulge in an evening of romantic wining and dining.

The attractive of the Bukit Bintang

For karaoke enthusiasts, there’s Red Box in Low Yat plaza which comes with private rooms and a wide selection of songs from golden oldies to the latest hits, as well as a buffet to whet your appetite in between crooning sessions.

Located inside The Westin Hotel, Qba Latin Grill & Bar is a restaurant cum wine/cigar bar serving scrumptious Latin American cuisine, with bands playing live Latin music almost every night. Above The Ship restaurant, there’s a popular nightspot called Captain’s Cabin Funtheque, featuring live performances, themed nights, games and a different set of tunes played every hour.

Another popular nightclub located within the five-star Grand Millennium is the Pulse Ultra Club, deemed the hottest new nightspot in town, which features a large balcony overlooking Bintang Walk and a bar cum lounge area with deejays and live bands, as well as an elegant and intimate Champagne Lounge.

With all of this, Bukit Bintang surely is a place where we can entertain ourselves. Get there whenever you are free to have fun.

Inter-racial coupling

we need more color in our lives

Were Adam and Eve an inter-racial couple? Makes sense if they were. It seems that this generation of this time is more open to more things now-a-days than previous generations.

Labels like GAP and united colors of Benetton  embrace different races and mixtures of races and it seems as though people from a multicultural background get more job opportunities in the entertainment or modeling industry than any others because they have “ The Look”.

Whether if its modeling or music there’s always room for that one mixed girl/guy. But why is it when we see an inter-racial couple, holding hands or committing PDA, we have to do a double take without even realizing it.

A child that that comes from a multi-racial background is looked at as beautiful but the couple that produced the child is looked at as strange or “different”. But what is different? What we don’t know? What we fear? Or what we don’t like?

Here’s a fun fact for you, in 1664 the American state of Maryland band inter-racial marriages between a black slave and a white person because they wouldn’t be able to decide whether their child would be considered a free person or property.

okay that’s understandable because people back then where dumb and stupid and didn’t know how to act right, but people today also have that primitive way of thinking. Come on people, haven’t we come far enough not to discriminate?

Take Norman and Arinah for example Norman is euro-Asian from a Pilipino mother and and English father and Arinah’s parents are both Jamaican. They’ve been together for 2 years and till today they find it hard to ignore the stares.

“ it’s been difficult, especially when Norman gets made fun of by his friends, it really hurts me that his mates don’t accept me but I just have to remind myself that I’m here for him and no one else” said Arinah when asked how she felt about being in a relationship that not all of society accepts.

We asked Norman how he felt about the matter and he said “ I really don’t care what people say or think, I wasn’t put on this earth to impress anyone or listen to what they tell me to do, I love Arinah and she loves me and it’s a relationship between me and her, no one else!”.

Norman and Arinah are now engaged and are planning on having a family. “ not any time soon though, I want to finish school first and we were thinking of buying a house together and then start making wedding plans, nothing just yet though” said Arinah.

So why is it that we just stare? I understand that we’re only human and anything that looks strange to us we can’t keep our eyes off but there’s so much of it happening. Why can’t we just get used to it and move on?

If you ask me, if meet a nice, mature, cute white man, trust me I’ll make a move and same applies to the rest. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or how you look, a fine boy is a fine boy, so….. call me!

Share, Like, Comment and Delete

Do you have a facebook my beautiful marvelous friend? by Edris Tiew, picture from http://www.blogjer.com
You may not know who Mark Zukerberg is, but you definitely know Facebook. Facebook users have reached 400million since 2007 all around the world.
It allows people who probably never would have met each other in person to communicate; it creates new relationships and friendships and it also makes the distance between each other become closer.
A new term comes along with the existence of Facebook, ‘microblogging’, which is posting frequent tiny updates on what you’re doing.
People are able to know everything from what a Facebook user’s gender is, to what school they attend, what politics opinions they have and all their likes and dislikes, all with a click.

Besides, people also have the chance to share a Facebook user’s life by viewing their status, photos, and also leave a comment to them.
As most of the people don’t have much awareness for not revealing too much personal information, they paid a very high price for it, including their precious life.
With the advance of internet, people can keep their status up-to-date, and they can post or share their daily lives anytime anywhere.
But, they forgot they do have some friends who can be considered a stranger to them, as people just simply approved those ‘nobody’s’ friend request from nowhere.
A Facebook user can just simply leave a comment to another Facebook user, as long as the person didn’t privatize his/hers account.
And the users are allowed to delete their comment, and also share other people’s photos or videos.
Facebook is another platform or should say playground for those cyber bullies, as they can just attack people by leaving vicious comment or just upload people’s private photos or videos.
After these bullies found that they have created a great impact or hurt others, they can just right away delete their comments or just removed those photos or videos.
The victims will face a very embarrassing or shameful situation when their private photos or videos were being shared by everyone.
Even Facebook do have certain settings to protect the users like ‘report abuse’ but it still can’t control the speed of people sharing it.
Millions of people might have viewed, shared and even downloaded it.
There was a tragic incident happened recently, Tyler Clementi, a 18 years old student from Rutgers University in New Jersey threw himself off the George Washington bridge after being filmed having sex with another male student and streamed online.

Clementi’s roommate Dharun Ravi and another first-year student Molly Wei left a webcam in Clementi’s bedroom secretly, and were broadcast engaging in sexual activity with another man through internet.

He posted his final message in Facebook: “Jumping off the gw bridge sorry.’’

Clementi’s story is not the only sad story happened, there are more similar cases.

When Facebook become one of the main communication tools today, it has its advantages and also disadvantages.

Therefore, people have to think wisely before they approve a friend request, share and post a comment.

Strive to be a powerful girl

A beautiful painting depicting a mesmerizing lady overlooking a marvelous lake by Chen Jie, picture from http://www.wallcoo.com
Regardless of our own property or social role assignment, girl gives people the feeling is always weak and need to be protected.

Some girls are agreeing with this view, I have to say that different people choose different way. But in my opinion, as a girl, we need to strive to be a powerful girl.

Many girls always complain about their life, almost everything, especially about their boyfriend or husband. But I want to say that remember one thing and keep in your heart that is do everything for yourself, you don’t need do for other people, because do everything that you want or you like, then you will not complain. Remember that is you want or you like and most important thing is do everything for yourself.

There is no absolute fairness in our life. Fortunately, there is relative fairness still in our life. Therefore, don’t complain or think the life is unfair for you when you are under a lot of pressure, just because you get more pressured than others, doesn't mean your the only one.

When we encounter any difficulties in our life, we shouldn’t be pessimistic and world-weary. We shouldn’t scare to start again and again at anytime when we are losing in our life. Because we don’t know that maybe next new starting point is the road can let us leading to success.

To learn forgive by practicing forgiveness. Everyone has different difficulties, so don't expect others or give them high expectations. Let yourself become a little more peaceful, more liberal and more tolerant.

As a girl, we must be financially independent. Because only economically independent girls are eligible to talk about other things. We should strive for the opportunity of study and tourism when we are 15 year old to 25 year old. 25 year old to 35 year old, we should work hard and to actively pursue further studies. Start saving money for our own material and spiritual life. Make achievements and enjoy it.

Something lost is lost, we don’t need feel regret. Because maybe that is never belongs to you. In real life no matter what mishap, you can think every mistake is your own mistake. We don’t need blame others. Only one thing we need to do that is get experience and knowledge from the mistake.

Remember that we need to always keep innocence, but not means childish. Besides, keep the romance also is important for girls. Romance is a self-cultivation and a life style. Romance also is an attitude, we don’t need care about we are young or old, we are single or married.

At last, we need to find our own joys of life by ourselves. Nobody needs to make your life happy or do some special things for you. That is not their responsibility. Girls, let us remember that do whatever we want for ourselves, be independent and love ourselves.

A breath of fresh air at Semenyih

SEMENYIH: Almost eighty people came to the launching of a new biryani restaurant called, Uncle Din’s Biryani House at Pelangi Semenyih, Semenyih last night.

The owners of the restaurant which is Kamarudin Ismail and Zainal Abidin were surprised by the respond they received although it was the first day opening of their new restaurant.

“I invited my relatives, close friends and the residents but didn’t think it would be much of a crowd however, I’m over the rainbow,” said Ismail.
Abidin is actually the second cousin of Ismail’s wife and the idea of opening up a restaurant came up when Ismail praised Abidin’s style of cooking a delicious biryani.

Thought it was just a joke, Abidin was surprised when he received a call two weeks later from Ismail telling he was serious about opening up a new restaurant.

“I’m glad how things are working up right now because it’s not just about the restaurant it’s about family values that we must worship,” said Abidin.

Uncle Din’s Biryani House does not just offer biryani in their menu but some other delicious food like 1Malaysia Nasi Ayam, Special Mee Mamak and Pattaya Rocks.

The name, Uncle Din’s Biryani was actually inspired by Abidin’s father name who actually invented the biryani’s recipe.

The restaurant also offers a catering service for birthday parties, kenduri (Malay festive), and school reunion.

Don’t leave it last minute

A man sleeping on top of book cases due to severe exhaustion, picture from http://www.smart-kit.com
‘My economics essay is due week 6, I’ll do it in a few days’, says the average student unknowingly as the procrastination monster is creeping up on him/her.

It is a rather cliché topic to talk about but let’s face the facts as days turn into weeks and later on to fortnights and we’re caught doing the assignment a day before or on the very day of its submission.

Some have a natural talent in completing things at the last minute with ease, but for the rest of us it is a painful, tiresome, and grueling experience.

Don’t deny it as we all ‘cram’ as the result of necessity and obligation to complete our work rather than doing it voluntarily.

Honestly, who would want to spend an entire night in front of their laptops typing desperately away to reach that minimum word limit? You already know that your lecturers have heard every excuse in the book but you think that you’re unique in some way and that glimmer of a chance will give you an extra few days extension. You were sadly mistaken, and from there you hit the books, hard.

While in ‘cram-mode’ individuals will experience an increase in stress levels which in return will sometimes lead to aggression and volatility towards others, insomnia due to lack of sleep, and sometimes headaches.

Anxiety is another symptom that an individual may suffer from as they would be so anxious to finish their work and get some sleep but sometimes it works in their misfortune.

The gravest mistake one could make is having a short break to catch some shut eye as most of the time they wake up the next day.

The work yet to be completed and your late to class, you tend to rush and therefore increasing the potential of accidents whether on a vehicle or not.

You arrive late and interrupt the class, the lecturer comments tardiness and asked for the assignment. Instead of one problem, now you have two, what do you do?

You will either admit that it’s not finished or come out with a farfetched reason to make it look as if it is not your fault, but either way you choose you would still regret not doing the work earlier and you vow never to procrastinate in doing you work ever again or at least you hope you don’t. And the cycle continues.
